Lichfield District Council has secured a major legal victory against unauthorised development on Woodhouses Road in Burntwood. The High Court in Birmingham has granted an interim injunction that takes immediate effect, stopping any further building work or new caravans on the land while court proceedings continue.
The injunction freezes the current situation on the site with strict conditions. Developers are permitted only to install basic water supplies and construct two wooden sheds for toilet, shower and washing facilities. All other construction work, caravan placement and development activity is now banned under the court order.
Councillor Richard Cox acknowledged residents' concerns about the site's development. "Securing this interim injunction is a significant step and demonstrates our commitment to ensuring planning regulations are upheld," he said. Lichfield District Council will maintain close monitoring of the land as legal proceedings continue.
The court's decision reflects the council's ongoing efforts to enforce planning regulations across the Lichfield district. Officials are not providing further comment at this stage, as the case remains active in the courts. Residents of Burntwood and surrounding areas can expect continued council oversight of the Woodhouses Road site.
