Redrow Midlands, which is building at Curborough Lakes on Watery Lane in Lichfield, is inviting the city's youngsters to design a house suitable for 2126 – some 100 years from now.
The competition is open to four-to-16-year-olds across the region. Designs must suit the needs of ultra-modern family life while being energy efficient and built sustainably. Ideas might include wallpaper that changes depending on mood, a fridge that restocks automatically or a bathroom that cleans itself.
Young designers have until midnight on Friday 16 October to submit their 'house of the future' design to BarrattRedrow@wpragency.co.uk.
The winning archi-tot will receive a £100 prize and see their design placed into a time capsule and buried in the ground at Curborough Lakes, ready to be unearthed in a century's time. The winner will join other successful archi-tots chosen by Redrow regions across the UK, with one overall champion to be announced later this year.
