Thousands of people are expected in Beacon Park this Saturday as Lichfield Proms returns with a new stage, an improved screen and an expanded food and drink village.
The free outdoor concert takes place on 5 September and marks the 27th edition of the annual event. Organisers say this year’s programme will combine live orchestral music, family entertainment and a fireworks finale.
What time does Lichfield Proms start?
The food and drink village and funfair are due to open from 3pm. City of Lichfield Concert Band will perform from 6pm before the main concert, led by the British Police Symphony Orchestra, begins at 7.30pm.
Danny Mizon will return as compère for the evening, guiding the audience through the programme before the traditional fireworks finale.
New stage and expanded food village
Visitors will see a new and improved stage and screen in Beacon Park. The refreshed food and drink village will also feature 19 new traders, giving concertgoers a wider choice during the afternoon and evening.
Lichfield District Council says the Proms regularly attracts more than 8,000 people, while the event’s visitor information says crowds can reach around 10,000. People are being encouraged to arrive early and allow time to find a place.
Planning your visit
Visitors can bring a picnic and suitable outdoor seating. Optional reserved parking, tables, deckchairs and gazebos are available through the event organisers, subject to availability.
Temporary road restrictions will operate near Beacon Park between noon and 11pm on Saturday. Full event and travel information is available on the Lichfield District Council website.
