North Lichfield residents came together last week for a major community clean-up drive that made a significant impact on their neighbourhood. The 'Be Proud of Your Community Day' event saw volunteers fill eight skips with rubbish and collect 25 bags of litter in a single day. The clean-up targeted six locations across North Lichfield, including Windmill Lane and Reynolds Close.

The event brought together multiple partners committed to improving Lichfield's communities. Lichfield District Council, local police, housing association Bromford and several local charities all contributed to the effort. Bob Harrison from Lichfield Litter Legends highlighted the scale of the problem, noting that the first skip was filled within 45 minutes. Beyond the litter picking, families enjoyed free games and face painting, while The Plant Plot distributed potted flowers to residents.

Queens Fish and Chips sponsored the event, demonstrating strong local business support for the initiative. This was the fourth such community clean-up event in North Lichfield within three years, showing sustained commitment from residents to improve their area. Councillor Richard Cox praised the impressive turnout, emphasising that these events deliver benefits beyond tidying streets.

According to Councillor Cox, community clean-up days build stronger neighbourhood spirit and make areas safer and more welcoming for everyone. For Lichfield residents, these regular initiatives represent practical action to take pride in their local environment and strengthen ties with neighbours and local organisations.
