Lichfield District Council has seized a vehicle and issued a £1,000 Fixed Penalty Notice after investigating a fly-tipping incident on Brookhay Lane in Whittington. The offender has paid the penalty.
A member of the public witnessed waste being illegally dumped at the location and recorded evidence, which they reported to the council's Environmental Protection team. Following the investigation, two Environmental Protection Officers seized a white Toyota Yaris Cross from the offender's workplace in Fradley on Tuesday 12 August.
Council Welcomes Public Reports
Councillor Richard Cox, Cabinet Member for Community and Public Protection, said the case demonstrates how residents can help the council take action against fly-tippers.
"This is a great example of how information from our residents can help us take action against those who think it's acceptable to dump waste in our district," Councillor Cox said. "We want everyone to be able to enjoy a clean and welcoming district, and fly-tipping has no place in our communities."
Councillor Cox thanked both the resident who reported the incident and the council's Environmental Protection team for their work.
How to Report Fly-Tipping
Lichfield District Council investigates fly-tipping reports across the district and takes enforcement action where sufficient evidence is available. Residents who witness fly-tipping are advised not to approach those involved, but to note down useful information where safe to do so — such as location, time, vehicle registration and descriptions of those involved — and report it to Lichfield District Council.
