Lichfield District is receiving a £75,000 investment to deliver environmental improvements across local neighbourhoods. The Clean and Green programme, funded through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund, is backing small-scale projects led by ward councillors to make communities cleaner, safer and more pleasant.

Visible improvements are already underway across Lichfield. Roundabouts in Burntwood have been upgraded, new bins have been installed in Harlaston to tackle dog fouling, and a footpath on London Road in Bourne Vale has been cleared for pedestrians. Additional work includes new fencing and hedge planting at Stonnall playing fields, enhancements to Boley Cottage Lane, and a concrete chess board at Burntwood Leisure Centre.

Councillor Phil Whitehouse highlighted how the scheme has enabled ward councillors to deliver visible improvements and meaningful change in their areas. The programme demonstrates a commitment to enhancing local spaces through targeted community-led initiatives across Lichfield.

More projects are planned and underway across Lichfield District over the coming months. Residents can expect to see further neighbourhood improvements as the Clean and Green investment continues to be rolled out to different communities throughout the district.
