Lichfield District Council has presented its Year-End Performance and Delivery Report to Cabinet, setting out progress across council services, major projects and community priorities during 2025/26.
The report details how the council has continued delivering against its ambitions despite increasing demand for services and financial pressures.
Major Projects and Infrastructure
Thousands of residents have begun using the new Lichfield Leisure Centre over the past year. The Greenway project has converted a former railway line into a 6.5-kilometre walking and cycling route connecting communities across the district.
The council invested £1.4 million into community infrastructure, including parks, play areas and sports facilities. The report also notes continued progress on major regeneration projects: the Birmingham Road development, Linear Park, Burntwood Masterplan and a city centre cinema scheme.
Support for Vulnerable Residents
Every resident who approached the council reporting homelessness received support on the same day they made contact. More than £1.2 million was invested in Disabled Facilities Grants, helping older and disabled residents remain safe and independent in their own homes.
The council awarded over £250,000 to local charities and community organisations delivering wellbeing services, financial support, cultural activities and community programmes across the district.
Future Investment
The report reflects continued investment in business support, young entrepreneurs, green spaces and biodiversity, new affordable housing, and projects designed to create healthier, more prosperous and better-connected communities.
Councillor Doug Pullen, Leader of Lichfield District Council, said the report provides residents with "an honest picture" of what the council has achieved and where more work remains. He said the council sets itself ambitious targets and remains open about performance and transparent about use of public money.
