The Wych Elm in Burntwood has temporarily closed for a £270,000 refurbishment, with reopening scheduled for 4 November.

The Chase Terrace pub closed on 12 October and is being converted to Marston’s Grandstand sports-pub format, according to a release issued on behalf of the business.

The planned work includes new screens and sound equipment, tiered seating and changes to the beer garden. Screens are also planned for the outdoor area.

The pub is asking local people to share photographs and sports memorabilia to help recognise local teams and sporting achievements.

Pub partner Rebecca Fekete-Jones said the team was looking forward to reopening following the work.

The announced reopening date is 4 November 2026. Customers can check the pub’s website for updates before visiting.
